I know very little about bamboo, but when I saw this in a Key West garden earlier this year, the colours, textures and leaf patterns made me feel like an overexcited animal that has found something tasty in the street, sniffing and wagging its tail in delight.
I couldn’t decide which picture I liked best, so I’m sharing both for Becky’s Lines&Squares.
Update: I thought this was bamboo, but Tony Tomeo has advised in the comments that this is some form of palm, perhaps a large species of Chamaedorea (bamboo palm). Golden cane palm (Dypsis lutescens) might be another possibility.
Lovely markings. No wonder you couldn’t decide which one to showcase.
It taps into my wallpaper years – those bamboo and leafy textures from way back when!
My toothbrush is made out bamboo. Apparently I can pluck the bristles and it will sprout. It’s pretty cool stuff.
That does sound cool… and recyclable!
Great lines and textures. I can see why you liked it!
There must surely be more than one type there?
Looks like it.
Lovely plant. There was a tiny one (only a baby bamboo really) in my family home’s garden, I loved it. Don’t get so excited you turn into a Panda, though. 😉
I haven’t so far… but you never know!
Very handsome indeed! You’ve sure found some great lines!
I liked the great harmony of colours.
Nice colors and lines! We were at a park in Florida this past February and they had several different types of bamboo, mostly small plants, nothing as beautiful as this!
I had heard that it spreads, but this patch seemed well under control.
Beautiful. Bamboo seems to have a calming effect visually, at least for me. The giant bamboo groves in Kyoto should be on your list if you visit Japan.
Noted! Me too. I could easily live with these textures and colours.
Gorgeous, I’m a bamboo fan too.
Thanks, Chloris.
Absolutely lovely! Why choose when you can feature both pictures?
That’s one of the pleasures of blogging, I suppose.
Ooh, I agree!! Such a delight to the eyes!! Love the colors, textures and patterns!! 🎋❤️
I imagine my sweetheart had some trouble coaxing me away from this. I seem to remember we were in a hurry too!
