“There is something quite special about white roses… they are all purity and light.” – David Austin
I’m sharing pictures of white shrub roses and rambling roses in eager anticipation of the peak flowering season for roses which is a couple of weeks or so away in my part of the world. As my sweetheart would say, bring it on! Meanwhile, I’ll let the roses do their own talking.

Jude suggested I might share some white roses for her current challenge – I’m happy to oblige.

My heavens. Every one of them is gorgeous, although I’m partial to the more open, simpler forms. Rosa rugosa ‘Alba’ might be my favorite, although trying to chose a ‘favorite’ here would be foolish.
It has certainly turned out to be the purest white, although the sunlight helps. The huge hips give R. rugosa ‘Alba’ extra interest and they are able to carry on flowering while they are fruiting. The only issue is that in some parts of the world rugosas are considered invasive.
What a magnificent gallery! Thanks for sharing, Susan 😀
My pleasure, Len.
Just … perfect.
Thanks, Margaret. Trust Jude to bring them out!
What a beautiful collection of roses you have here.
I’m glad you like them.
No John F. Kennedy?!
Sorry, Tony! But I know white flowers have a shortcut to your heart.
There is no need to apologize. Hybrid tea roses are not for everyone.
So many beauties, and I love that arbor. I love the singles best, like ‘Kew Gardens’.
The dripping ramblers were at RHS Rosemoor, which is a great place for roses. I’ve been surprised that the singles have been the most admired. Perhaps the simplicity of white favours them.
Dreamy. I do love white flowers!
I’m thinking of putting together a similar gallery of peonies.
Gorgeous photos, Susan. I am especially fond of white roses. Thank you.
A little tonic for the spirits. I enjoyed seeing quite a big display of them on the terraces at Bodnant Gardens a few years ago.
I’ve yet to visit there but look forward to it in the near future.
You’ll love it.
oh these are so gorgeous, and can almost smell them too!
Nearly missed this! Sorry, Becky, and thank you.
as long as you found it that’s all that counts 🙂
Beautiful …..after seeing this post…feeling awesome….😊
I’m glad you liked them.
Too delicious!!
A feast for the eyes. 🙂
