For this week’s challenge, I’m opening with two, classic, creamy-white magnolias, shown with the same hand for comparison.

I wish I could share their heady, lemony scent too.

Magnolia ‘Curly Head’ is typically described as yellow with a rose-pink stripe, but these young flowers were decidedly green. For those who love technical details, The Magnolia Society lists it as a cross between Magnolia acuminata ‘Fertile Myrtle’ and Magnolia x veitchii ‘Peter Veitch’.

I didn’t record the name of this striped tulip, which was part of a huge swathe of tulips and daffodils winding through the Dixon Gallery and Garden in Memphis in March. The planting of bulbs was brightening up the rose garden as it waited its turn to flower.

I’m ending with a picture of one of the many statues from the gallery.

Shared as part of Denzil’s Nature Photo Challenge: Tulips and Magnolias.

Great photos! The magnolias are stunning and I can almost imagine their lemony scent.❤️
It’s memorable.
I love photo 5, those tulips make a gorgeous splash of colour 🙂
I went to Gresgarth Hall today, the first time this year – bit of a waste of time really as some of the beds are a bit sparse and there’s not much colour around although the daffodils are nice. Maybe I should have waited until next month or maybe June as I want to see the rhododendrons.
I think May is a good time, when the bluebells are usually in flower. Weirdly, one of the pictures was taken there – the greenish magnolia. That must have been ESP on your part.
Brilliant and beautiful photos. Really love the magnolias 😀
Magnolias are very impressive flowers, provided the frost spares them.
Lovely florals 🙂
Thank you
Beautiful photos Susan 🙂
I’m glad you liked them.
Beautiful spring flowers. I like all the shots but specially the close ups.
It’s such a colourful time.
That Magnolia grandiflora was actually startling! I had no idea magnolia flowers could be so huge. The tulips and daffodils are a raucous bunch — what good cheer they bring. Thank you!
My sweetheart says it’s seedling diversity – that one is unusually large.
That striped tulip makes an extraordinary carpet in Spring. Much more showy than the plain coloured variety.
I like the striped ones – in roses and anything else too.
Fine photography
Thanks, Derrick.
Those magnolias are wonderful, and the smallest would better handle the unpredictable spring weather.
Or so we would hope!
Wow that is a huge magnolia! Thanks for participating Susan.
It’s unusually large, and the perspective might make it seem more so.
Those Magnolia flowers are huge! And I had no idea they are scented. Thanks for sharing all those glorious tulips too. 😃
it’s a strong scent too.
