When people riot, it’s generally ugly, but not so with flowers.

Over millennia, you could argue they’ve mastered the art of sharing and combining better than humans.

Not that they are reluctant to maximise their time in the sun. Flowers show some respect for each other’s space but not much, like eager young dancers at a group audition. Of course, it’s harder when you’re tumbling.

My pictures most often show plants that are a bit more orderly than these but when you’re arriving late for a flower party, you may as well throw off all holds.

So today I’m sharing seas of flowers…

bold colours…

spikes and clusters…

and tangles. All in an excellent cause.
If, like me, you’re late to join in with Cathy’s A Week of Flowers, you still have a few hours left.

I truly enjoyed viewing everyone’s week of flowers.
Me too. It’s been great.
Thank you — I needed this! I was more saturated with winter than I realized: that first photo just shocked me. In a very good way. I liked the contrasts with humans — from a literary point of view, that is; I don’t mean to say that I like the way humans can’t be like flowers, which can riot together and make it a celebration. I am particularly drawn to the delphiniums and their companions. And the name “Wollerton Old Hall” is exceptionally inviting. I think I’ll pretend I’m there.
A very fine old hall it is too, or at least the garden is. I’ve never ventured further inside than the tea room.
Oh my goodness, that was flower power times ten! What a gorgeous post. I must go back and look it all again! Thanks for joining in Susan and have a flowery sunshiny day! 🤗
My pleasure! I’ve been having fun watching from the sidelines.
What a a glorious tangle of colors!
Beautiful.
Thanks!
They’re wonderful. And they’re not rioting. They’re having a carnival, a festival, a gala. Redefining rioting indeed! A good time is being had by all, including the flowers.
Some are more riotous than others, I’ll give you that. Wollerton Old Hall’s garden is generally very well-behaved, unless you catch the lilies tumbling over each other at peak bloom.
How beautiful…no words to describe!
Thanks for calling by.
While I love formal gardens, I have a special place in my heart for flowers growing with wild abandon, unstructured joy. Thanks for these lovely color combinations!
My pleasure, Sam.
I love cottage style gardens.
They’re the best.
🤗💗
Glorious!
I’m glad you enjoyed them.
My favorite kind of flower garden is one that’s rioting.
It’s what summer’s all about.
