Dawn Miller is hosting a weekly Festival of Leaves challenge to celebrate autumn that will run for the next 10 – 12 weeks. I’d have felt more concerned my first offering might not count, being counterfeit autumn leaves, had Dawn’s first not been chrysanthemums.
As she explains, we’re at the very start of autumn so a little leeway is warranted.
I’m also linking in to Cee’s FOTD which welcomes leaves at any time of the year.

A lovely photo, the colours are gorgeous 🙂
It was heart-warming to happen upon them.
Aha! Great minds and all.
Lovely color.
Thanks for hosting, Dawn.
This is a boom photo of red loveliness Susan 🙂
It does seem like a little explosion, frozen mid-air.
Glorious color, even if they aren’t exactly autumn leaves.
Trees that wear their party dresses all year. I bought a second-hand dress rather like this for 75p (it eventually came) but it does not fit.
Nothing counterfeit about that red! It’s good not to waste it. Especially against that sky, there’s a starry quality to these leaves — they’re too beautiful not to count!
Fancy sitting beneath these for half an hour (or half a day!) There’s a tea room just up the hill from here where you could marvel at our names for confectionery and struggle to choose what you most wanted.
I can sense the bliss, even from here!
And you perhaps have a slice of cake in your larder?
Sad to say, I don’t have the slice of cake in the larder, but it likely will not surprise you to know I have a worthy supply of cookies in the freezer!
We’re early in the season, with plenty of leaves on the trees, but your photo reminded me of these lines from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “Cristobel”:
“The one red leaf, the last of its clan,
That dances as often as dance it can.”
I love how the last line you’ve quoted embodies a leaf, changing tack part way through. Dancing on the ‘dance’, you might say.
Any excuse to post photos of these vibrant and lovely leaves is fine by me.
Challenges, as you know, are more about the spirit and the taking part. It’s best to be honest, though, as some might sense the summer.
🙂
Good use of leeway
I wouldn’t have claimed it for anything less spectacular. 🙂
A beautiful frame.
All frame, you might say.
Well we wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t have said 😉
The green ones in the background are a bit of a giveaway.
Feels joyful! 🙂
I thought so too.
Red acers are just beautiful! 🙂
Especially when they’re backlit or against a blue sky.
