Festival of Leaves: Red Acer

Dawn Miller is hosting a weekly Festival of Leaves challenge to celebrate autumn that will run for the next 10 – 12 weeks. I’d have felt more concerned my first offering might not count, being counterfeit autumn leaves, had Dawn’s first not been chrysanthemums.

As she explains, we’re at the very start of autumn so a little leeway is warranted.

I’m also linking in to Cee’s FOTD which welcomes leaves at any time of the year.

  1. Nothing counterfeit about that red! It’s good not to waste it. Especially against that sky, there’s a starry quality to these leaves — they’re too beautiful not to count!

    1. Fancy sitting beneath these for half an hour (or half a day!) There’s a tea room just up the hill from here where you could marvel at our names for confectionery and struggle to choose what you most wanted.

          1. Sad to say, I don’t have the slice of cake in the larder, but it likely will not surprise you to know I have a worthy supply of cookies in the freezer!

  2. We’re early in the season, with plenty of leaves on the trees, but your photo reminded me of these lines from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s “Cristobel”:

“The one red leaf, the last of its clan,
That dances as often as dance it can.”
