It’s that time of the year again. Strictly Come Dancing’s Class of 2019 will take to the floor today on BBC1 at 19.00 hrs, dancing live for the nation. In celebration and anticipation, the flowers and I are showing our Strictly fan credentials.

Friends and family will vouch for the fact that I don’t do organised dancing (I do the disorganised kind, given an opportunity) and I’m not a glitter girl, being more into florals.

That perhaps makes it a bit strange that I find Strictly fun, but like millions of the British viewing public, I do.

If you live outside the UK you can usually see highlights after each show on YouTube. If you think it’ll be no fun because you don’t know our celebrities, take comfort that we don’t know some of them before the show starts either.
Have to dash as I’m late for the train, but keeeeep dancing!
What a great idea for a post, with such winsome examples! That Lysimachia shot is balletic.
If only I could have worked out what a dad dancer type flower would look like. An orchid might have done it. (Not that I am suggesting we shouldn’t dance if we look funny, not having any room to cast aspersions.)
Lovely photo of the Lewisia. The Lily is dazzling darling!
Why, thank you!
Beautiful.
Thanks, Carol.
Fuchsias have always reminded me of ballet dancers. 🙂
I used to call them leg dancers as a child, in honour of when the ballerina stands on one leg and is twirled round.
Oh, perfect!
Love the dancing flowers – much more my thing than the TV dancers. 🙂
Flowers do have a way of dancing or at least for bobbing around so it is not all fancy.
I love the shape and color of those Lewisia flowers. That’s one I don’t grow. I too had to look up Strictly Come Dancing – looks better than Dancing with the Stars.
If people want proof of the different nuances between the UK and the US, comparing our similar shows would be a good place to start. I doubt that Bargain Hunt – where the might of the BBC is assembled to record teams running about in excitement while the same rituals are played out and a few pound sterling won or lost by buying and selling three ‘antiques’ – would fly over there. But perhaps I am wrong.
Hmm. I wouldn’t be so sure.
Fabulous photos 👏
The flowers have twirled in pleasure at your praise. 🙂
Great theme – well executed, enjoyed this very much!
Thank you.
Such lovely varieties.
I’m glad you liked them.
I am sorry I missed it. That Lewisia is rad! I think they are more popular outside of their native range.
That might be true.
