More stunning shots
Thanks, Derrick.
Very pretty! Surprised you still have color at this late date.
I rarely post pictures as soon as I take them – it can take years for me to decide to share them. However, it is still like this in Mississippi where my sweetheart lives, though the ginkgo leaves have pretty much fallen.
In a word, oooooh! I am especially intrigued by the color of the underlayer in the leaf pile, to the upper left of the center leaf, and am fumbling for a name for it. It’s almost iridescent. Pearl grey? Not quite. Silvery purple? No. Over all, quite a palette!
It struck me as being gold and silver, in the most simple terms.
Great photos, autumn colours are lovely especially against a blue sky 🙂
It’s rare a picture is not improved by a blue sky, but the combination with the yellow ginkgo leaves is very striking.
Nandina seems to be everywhere this year and yet I have never come across it before. I might have to get me one, but in a container as there is no room for more shrubs in my garden.
My sweetheart loves nandinas but I hadn’t paid them much attention before I met him. Closer acquaintance with them makes them seem a lot more interesting than you’d expect. The leaves have a nice pattern even when they are green. The flowers are demure, the berries positively flashy and the autumn colour can be very striking.
Yes it is the autumn colours that I like. I don’t really have any autumnal shrubs.
Such a pretty time of year. In Maine, however, autumn is long gone.
There must be a place in the world where the theoretical dates of autumn/winter etc agree with the impressions of the seasons, but I wouldn’t like to say where it is!
What a good point. I can’t say where it is, either, but it certainly isn’t Maine. 😉
Gorgeous colours.
Thanks, Su.
Lovely autumn leaves!
I suppose in a lost episode of The Twilight Zone there is a world where autumn leaves, spring bulbs and summer flowers coexist all at the same time, with a warning not to think that having it all at once will make life any sunnier, but…
Oh my!!! You are just now heading into Autumn!! What a difference some outdoor color makes.
It feels quite wintry today!
Lovely! My favorite is the gingko. What a beautiful area you must live in!
These were taken in my sweetheart’s neighbourhood. I took quite a lot of ginkgo shots before I got one I liked.
Ya for your autumn colours. Ours was awful this year so I enjoy your bright blue skies and colourful leaves.
I’m glad to be able to share 🙂
Such great photos! I like that you show the beauty of the quiet colors, too, and not only the intense ones.
What struck me about the nandinas was not just the red colour of the berries and some of the leaves, though that was striking, but the contrast with the plain green leaves of the wild blackberry.
