Dang. First comment so I am not certain what this flower is. Look at that bumblebee snuggled right in.
It’s a dahlia. I’m not an expert on them, so I stand to be corrected, but I think it’s a collarette type.
What a nice type of dahlia.
It looks like the floral equivalent of one of those bed mattress softness testers, but for bees.
So sweet!!
I’m hoping it was ok. It looked healthy. I didn’t try to wake it – let sleeping bees lie seems a good motto!
A lovely photo, the bee looks so cute and the colour of the flower is gorgeous 🙂
The bee looks cuddly, doesn’t it?
Brilliant! Thank goodness for bees; without them we would not have beauty or food!
Thank goodness. Though one of them got tangled in my hair and stung me a few months ago. That was not ideal for either of us.
Great picture and perfect timing.
I don’t think I’d be able to hang on in that position, let alone sleep that way, especially as flowers tend to sway on the breeze. I suppose bees must have special balancing on flowers skills.
I guess so. I see bees sleeping in my bigger dahlias as well. Maybe they are just resting there. 🙂
Yesterday Monarch butterfly was enjoying one of my biggest dahlias as well. They are still around in my garden since many flowers continue to bloom.
After a nectar lunch.
Yes – that’s what my sweetheart looks like when he’s been eating waffles and syrup for breakfast.
Gorgeous!
Patterns in nature fascinate me and this flower has lots of them.
True
Love the vivid colour!
It’s a good bright crimson and those yellow stamens really set it all off.
It looks almost kittenish! I think it knew you were taking its picture — do you think it just ate a waffle? with syrup?

That’ll be it.
What a gorgeous dahlia! Lovely shot!
Thanks, Anita.
