The orange comes from various forms of crocosmia.
Totally agree about the orange! Lovely photo!
You both make a good point – the rich warm tones lift the burgundy and make it much cheerier.
[J] Wow! Would love this in our garden. Angelica grow easily here in the light sandy soil of the walled garden, so surely the purple would too! Must look out for this. Note to self …
You can’t see from the picture but if I remember correctly, there is a yew hedge or similar providing some protection at the back of the (wide) border, a bit like a living wall.
Bet the bees love it 😄
I’m surprised there wasn’t at least one on there, in retrospect!
