No – though I might have considered it a fairly demure plant before looking a bit closer.
Bella!
I have toad lilies too, and I love them.
I was so excited to spot this. I hadn’t realised they were so late flowering.
I’ve never seen a toad lily. Thanks for sharing!
They’re only small in real life, so easy to miss. I can’t remember seeing this particular one before. I tried to find out its name but drew a blank.
In the garden, that which is real defies the inventions in our dreams. Amazing.
It’s one of those flowers where the more you look at it, the stranger it seems.
Gorgeous. Mine are on the cusp.. 🙂
About time to enjoy, then!
that’s such a beautiful flower. I tried several times to plant it into my garden, but unfortunately never succeeded.
That’s a pity.
Its beautiful!
Wow, stunning.
So pretty for such a toady name 😊
I’ve been wonder where the name came from – perhaps people thought they were just the right size for toads – or perhaps it’s because some varieties are spotted all over. These seem to have forked tongues when you look this closely, so they’re more reptilian than toady.
I never realised how peculiarly beautiful they are. Nice shots 🙂
They seem engineered – tiny landing strips for insects. Heathrow would be delighted to have so many runways.
Great photos, Susan. These would look great in my shade garden. 🙂
Nothing shy about that beauty, is there?
