I’m going crazy trying to figure out what this is. At first I thought tree bark, then an old plank with the paint partially worn off. Whatever it is, it’s intriguing.
It’s a door that has been painted several times, but now has the wood showing through under the layers. The closest I’ve seen to this effect in a tree is rainbow eucalyptus – that’s perhaps what you were thinking of.
