Beach Huts for Birds

Rows of colourful bird houses

These colourful birdhouses from the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show made me think of beach huts, each painted slightly differently to their neighbours, but all in keeping with the spirit of the place. I need to rein in my imagination at this point before I start twittering about birds emerging from their huts in swimming costumes, clutching beach towels, ready for a few hours in the sun… followed by a refreshing sand bath… see what I mean?

I’ve taken far too long to respond to Margaret’s prompt – serried – but I’m going to do it anyway. The new challenge, Ragtag Daily Prompt, is hosted by a team of seven bloggers. If, like them, you’ve been pining for the Daily Post challenges, this might just be what you’ve been looking for.

Such colorful birdhouses! I love how you imagined bathing birds emerging from the huts, a fun scenerio for a writer/illustrator.

“I baggsy the red one” said the Robin. “The blue one is mine” said the Jay. “Oh” said the little brown Wren, “I suppose I shall have to have the brown one”.

I wouldn’t be surprised! They were very eye catching for the show and small enough to carry away if you’re tempted to splash out.
