It has been a whole day here since my morning comment, and in that time I have — as you might imagine — thought frequently of you as I read about the grief and shock of Manchester. I am so sorry for the UK, and for you. And then it occurred to me that this image might have been your own commentary on this ghastliness. Which turns mere melancholy to something much deeper.
You are right, as so often. Sorry I didn’t reply earlier – I’ve been travelling today. Your kind words are very much appreciated.
I thought it unusual for its rusty coloration, making it look more like a bronze rather than the limestone I believe it to be.
