Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Old Court’ (Shasta Daisy)

Leucanthemum x superbum 'Old Court' with other flowers

Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Old Court’ is a quirky, spirited, ornamental, spidery double that takes wild to a whole new level. It’s one of my favourite flowers at any British flower show.

White shasta daisy with shaggy petals
This Shasta daisy is characterised by tousled, strap-like petals

Butterflies and bees like it, it mixes wonderfully with other flowering perennials and would be a good, home-grown cut flower.

I’m using the name from the plant labels on the Holden Clough Nurseries stand at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, but you’ll find a good number of synonyms listed online which may or may not be the same plant, including:

Old Court Shasta Daisy
Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Beauté Nivelloise’
Chrysanthemum maximum ‘Beauté Nivelloise’

Leucanthemum x superbum ‘Old Court’ looks like a child’s scribbles

As I may have mentioned before, this flower makes my hair seem firmly under control. Well, assuming it’s not windy outside!

    1. I’m not familiar with the one you mention so I checked it out online. It looks lovely – along the same lines as this one, but a little less wayward.
