Beautiful even as bulbs.
I was drawn to their pied beauty.
Are you planting all of these? 🤨
That’s what i thought too!!!
They were for sale – I snapped them rather than snapped them up.
Just ogling them.
🤣
Some of them appear to have come straight from Chihuly’s studio! A wonderful perspective.
You’ve set my mind measuring the bulbs against the art inspired by their shapes… help!
Oh, dear! I fear there is no help!
Promise of good things to come!
I think these are the blue ones – my favourites, although it’s a moot point.
Lovely colors and texture! They remind me of red onions…💜
You started a consensus. I don’t suppose you’ve ever considered a career in British politics? 🙂
My first impression was onions.
Nature reinvents itself and has chains of connection we don’t yet figure. Apparently hyacinths are in the same family as asparagus, tricyrtis, agave and yucca while onions are in the amaryllis family, but you probably knew that. Plant classifications appear to come from the same kind of mindset as the offside rule in football (our version).
Yes, Botanists have created a much-expanded Asparagaceae family:

They make me think of red onions. I wonder if they are edible.
I checked: they are not edible, but they do look as if they might be.
They look like onions. Only you can tell me if they taste like them as well.
Apparently hyacinths contain oxalic acid and would poison us if we ate them.
Well I will avoid eating them then.
