I don’t know whether you think this Galapagos tortoise is cute or more of a strange, slow moving, ancient curiosity. He could move surprisingly quickly if tempted by anything succulent.
He came to mind when I saw this week’s photo challenge is scale, for two reasons – after all his skin is pretty scaly!
And as he’s pictured in a state of tortoise bliss from having his head rubbed, the man’s hand helps give us a sense of his giant size.
That’s scale times two! 😀
very unique!
another scale is time and the history that these animals live through
Very true – I hadn’t thought of that!
What a fabulous shot.
Thanks!
Definitely cute 🙂
I think he’s cute!
janet
Wow, that is a big one. Did you manage to touch it?
Yes, it is looked after by some friends and we were able to go right up to it and feed it with cactus or succulent leaves.
Perfect contrast to the post of the teeny tine turtle at https://unclespikes.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/weekly-photo-challenge-scale-i/ (the link that brought me here is in his comment section).
Great post for the theme! 🙂
Yes, I thought that too!
Wow- now that’s a big fella.
omg, i just saw another turtle on another blog, but that one was just about a couple of inches big! I think I have seen it all now 😉
