I’m sharing these pictures of an unusual but treasured treat – a smooth prickly pear (opuntia cactus) hand-carved with the three faces of comedy and tragedy. The giver of this gift, the sweet-natured, wise Greg Grant, carved a rather blithe-looking face (or perhaps it’s expressing wonder?) on the middle pad that reminds me of this ancient theatre mask on Wikipedia.
It might just be my imagination, but the faces (and the shadows) do start to look a little more creepy as dusk draws in, adding a touch of frission to the garden.

Loved it, what an imaginative gift!
Yes – it’s not often you’ll get something like this!
I like it and that purple-pinky wood!
That was the pantone colour of the year 2014 – radiant orchid.
Very cool!
Cute garden, plants and I’m loving the purple deck
It certainly brightens things up!
